Rohingya of Myanmar: One Year On

One Year On: The Struggle for Recognition of Rohingya Rights Continues

A year ago, the course of Rohingya history took a dramatic turn for the worse.

Years of deep-seated hatred towards the Rohingya community—who have long lived on the margins of Myanmarese society—unraveled from a civilian dispute in Arakan and spiraled into systematic ethnic cleansing.

Today, the Rohingya continue to face discrimination, displacement, and death—simply for their appearance, religion, and language.
